Hi! My name is Matt Theriault and I'm the guy behind both the Your Do Over and Epic Real Estate Investing podcasts on iTunes. I am a fifth-generation California native and Desert Storm Veteran (USMC). After my tour of duty, I resumed my pursuit of a career in music of which ultimately added up to fifteen successful years. I produced and marketed hip-hop acts that were distributed through an EMI affiliate channel. Year after year, my music business was growing and maintaining a steady momentum until the advent of the digital download caught the music industry off guard and quickly put me, and many others, out of business. As the song title states "Video Killed the Radio Star," in my case... the digital download killed the CD distributor.
I found myself at age 34 starting life from square-one, flat-broke and bagging groceries. It was a humbling time in my life, to say the least.
Having no other skills or "plan b," I was forced to learn something new. After a year or so of soul searching I discovered that if I was to ever create the comfortable lifestyle that the music business had blessed me with, real estate seemed to present the greatest possibility of doing so.
Through self-education and consistent and persistent action, I have been able to recreate the former life that I had enjoyed through music, and more.
The experience of rise and fall, and rise again, taught me many invaluable life lessons. Lessons about myself, the human condition, business and sustainable wealth creation were so abundant, poignant and profound during my "come back" journey that I felt compelled to write about them in my first book, Do Over.
Now, as an experienced and accomplished professional, teaching feels to be the next logical step in my career. Also, because of the issues surrounding our economy today, I am especially interested in informing the public of what multiple streams of income, cashflow and real estate investing can do for them, as well as helping them implement the practices. My podcasts are my outlet for this."
